Think all Sandals resorts are the same? Essentially the same experience, set on different beaches? If so, you couldn’t be more wrong! Last week I had the great fortune to visit all the Sandals and Beaches Resorts on the island of Jamaica – 9 resorts in all! For the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing my trip, and hopefully inspiring you to take your own trip to Jamaica, or a Sandals or Beaches resort anywhere in the Caribbean.
These beautiful resorts are in 4 general locations across the island, each a few hours drive apart. The drive across Jamaica is an adventure in itself, with right handed vehicles and roads (no problem for British visitors!) with two lanes and narrow shoulders. Such brave skills for passing, and there seems to be few problems.
In some cases there are several resorts in close proximity to each other. One is set in a remote area by itself, with a grand drive from the highway to the resort which is sprawled across a gorgeous stretch of white sand. A couple are small: one is a small Inn that welcomes its guests back year after year, like family members; another has the feel of a boutique hotel. Most are larger – one is like three in one – it’s three times the fun! Whether your Dream Vacation is relaxing, one big party, or a combination, there’s a Sandals or Beaches resort that will deliver your dreams!
In common is that they all offer the same level of service and amenities – dining, drinking, activities and entertainment. Tipping is not only not required, it’s not allowed. The friendly staff could lose their jobs if caught accepting gratuities. Beaches adds family friendly activities, with Sesame Street kids clubs for the little ones, X-Box labs for the older kids, and a water park that’s fun for everyone. Sandals and Beaches activities are a cut above your typical All-Inclusive!
I miss dining by the sea, and it’s only been a little over a week! With several restaurants at each location you’re offered a delicious variety of cuisines served a-la-carte. Buffets are available at breakfast and lunch, as well as a-la-carte restaurant service options. Top shelf liquor is served in unlimited supply, as well as hand crafted tropical beverages, with or without alcohol, and with or without umbrellas! Every room is stocked with juices, sodas, bottled water and Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. In club level rooms, an in room bar is stocked daily with liquor and wine.
Are you a Scuba Diver, or always wanted to be one? If you are a PADI certified diver, you know it can add a substantial expense to your vacation. It’s included at Sandals and Beaches resorts. Or, for a small additional fee, become certified, and then participate in the included dives that take place a couple of times a day. Diving’s not your thing? How about snorkeling? Water skiing? There are so many additional options to play in the water. You can even take sailing lessons – they’re included. At Sandals and Beaches, you can vacation in luxury and never lack for something fun to do, great to eat or interesting to drink.
